 Raising Healthy Kids

Family Health

While producing our video, In Our Own Words: Teens and AIDS, I noticed that the young people with HIV whom we profiled talked so openly about sex with their parents.  They even expressed their love to family members more freely.   They told me that the AIDS diagnosis knocked down the barriers. They each said that if they had communicated more openly earlier in life things might have turned out differently.  So, I wondered how we could help families learn to talk more openly and honestly in the absence of a tragedy like AIDS.  The result of our research is Raising Healthy Kids®: Families Talk About Sexual Health,a set of videos to help parents talk with children and young people about sexuality.  In the program, you will hear from young people, parents and experts.  Click here to order Raising Healthy Kids®: Families Talk About Sexual Health.
